Victory

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. – 2 Corinthians 2:14

How astounding are the promises of God! This scripture declares that God ALWAYS leads us to triumph or victory! Unfortunately, in order to experience victory, it means we are in a season or space of struggle, trial, temptation – and these can often feel too much; too hard; too hopeless. The promise is not that we will walk in a constant state of triumph, but rather that in every situation God will lead us in triumph. We can’t even say we will always know what that will look like, but victory is the Lord’s irrevocable promise.

A small side bar about me. I love music. Like, really love music. For me, it is one of the greatest connectors to events in life, emotions, and to our precious Savior. The other day, Phil Wickham’s “You Cannot be Stopped” was playing, and the Lord just did some work on me. Raising my hands towards the heavens in my car, with tears running down my face, (yes; I looked crazier than a person playing air guitar), I started to laugh. Okay God; I hear you! These lyrics started sinking deep into my soul, “God you’re victorious; you’re fighting for us… there is nothing that can stop our God. There is NOTHING.”

Despite my best intentions, I am guilty of losing sight of the Lord. HE IS IN CONTROL. Trials seem too heavy and emotions rise up that can easily pull my attention from upward focus to all the horizontal battles. And on this day, in my car with Phil Wickham playing on the radio, I was in the spiritual slump. Enjoying the wallowing and choosing to forget hope. BUT GOD…

The Lord, in His beautiful mercy & grace, in that moment did what I like to call a spiritual adjustment to my soul. Just as a chiropractor adjusts the body to get us back in alignment so we can function optimally and properly as God designed, so to with our heart posture, we must get this straight. My focus so quickly shifts down and outward on life and circumstance, where things can feel like they are broken and as if they will never change. BUT GOD…

God so graciously always redirects my view back up at Him, reminding me of the assurance of my faith and the truth of His Promises. His promise of future VICTORY that I can claim because He was ALREADY victorious. In His gallant rescue mission of LOVE for you and for me, SIS, God was victorious. Through this victory accomplished on the cross at Calvary & completed by His resurrection 3 days later, WE can stand firm in our faith. 1 John 5:4 states, “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

Victory is our promise, but never forget that it requires a battle. In the face of loss, opposition, repeated trials & exhausting challenges, hold fast to the Victory that already is and the victory that is to come. For in these valleys, true faith will stand on this promise, while remembering that the greatest purpose of every victory is to manifest the fragrance of our knowledge of Him.

In your current season, we pray you will be a sweet fragrance of His goodness, as you, despite circumstances, walk in VICTORY: His victory now yours! We see you; we love you; we are here to champion you forward under the umbrella of His truth and promises.
