Holding On to Hope When the Waiting Feels Heavy: A Conversation with Shana-Lee Scott
Some stories remind you that God is working even when nothing seems to be moving. This week on the Purpose Beyond Motherhood Podcast, Holly and I sat down with Shana-Lee Scott, and her words were full of honesty, strength, and the kind of hope that comes from really walking with God through the unknown.
If you’re in a season where you feel delayed, overlooked, or worn down by the wait, this conversation will speak straight to your heart.
Choosing God’s Goodness in the Middle of a Delay
One of the things Shana-Lee said that stayed with me was this:
“Every time you choose to believe He’s good in what feels like a delay or a setback, you’re choosing to align with God’s heart for you.”
So many women tell us they feel forgotten when the waiting stretches on. Shana-Lee reminded us that trusting God in these seasons isn’t pretending everything is fine — it’s deciding to believe He’s still moving even when you can’t see it.
She pointed out something we don’t talk about enough: God has waited on us far more times than we’ve ever waited on Him. His patience toward us is unmatched. When we turn back to Him — even after frustration, disappointment, or numbness — He’s right there.
Your Life Speaks to Someone Else’s Faith
Another moment I loved was when Shana-Lee shared how God can use our infertility journeys to impact people we’d never expect — a pharmacist, an ultrasound tech, someone watching quietly from the outside.
We don’t always know who’s being encouraged by the way we choose to trust God.
Even on the days when you feel empty, your faith is saying something.
Not pressure — just truth:
You get to be a mirror of what you believe.
When You Feel Like You Have Nothing Left
Shana-Lee was also honest about those moments when you don’t even know how to pray. She encouraged women to grab one verse — even just one — and make it the banner over their situation.
Two that she shared:
-
Psalm 23:1 — “The Lord is my shepherd…”
-
Psalm 27:13–14 — “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
When your emotions are all over the place, anchoring yourself in God’s Word can steady what feels shaky. You don’t have to have long prayers or perfect language — just a heart that keeps reaching back toward Him.
God Sees You in the Quiet Places
What I appreciate most about Shana-Lee is how she speaks to the tension of infertility with both strength and softness. She doesn’t minimize the ache, and she doesn’t offer cliché answers. She knows the weight of waiting, and she knows the nearness of God in it.
If you’re worn down by delayed dreams, if you’re grieving the hope that hasn’t happened yet, or if you’re trying to trust God when your heart feels fragile — this episode will remind you that you are seen and held.
