When the Waiting Feels Impossible: A Conversation with Dalton & Jenni

men miscarriage podcast

Some stories stay with you long after you hear them. This week on the Purpose Beyond Motherhood Podcast, I sat down with Dalton and Jenni Magaha—two people who have walked through infertility, miscarriage, IVF, and adoption with a faith that stayed steady in the middle of it all.

If you’re in a season of waiting or loss, their story will meet you right where you are.

Marriage, Miscarriage, and the Slow Work of God

Dalton and Jenni’s journey to becoming parents wasn’t what they expected. They faced two miscarriages, long stretches of “not yet,” confusing doctor visits, and years of wondering if God had forgotten them.

They were honest about how all of this impacted their marriage—how grief can pull you in different directions, and how easy it is to shut down instead of talk. They didn’t walk this season perfectly, but they kept turning back to God and back to each other.

This is a theme so many couples navigating infertility will recognize.
If that’s you, you are not alone.

Choosing a Different Kind of Trust

Dalton shared a moment that felt like the turning point in their story. After years of heartbreak, he told God:

“If it’s meant to happen, it will. And if it doesn’t, I’m still going to praise God.”

It wasn’t giving up.
It was surrender.
A quiet trust that God’s goodness isn’t tied to an outcome.

For anyone walking through infertility or pregnancy loss, that kind of faith can feel impossible—but it’s also what holds you when everything else feels shaky.

IVF, Adoption, and Letting God Lead the Path

Jenni spoke honestly about their IVF experience—the physical exhaustion, the emotional weight, and how important it was to find a doctor who truly listened. She also shared why they never felt conflicted about pursuing IVF, especially after years of trying everything else.

God surprised them in ways they didn’t expect:

  • IVF brought their first child.

  • Their second was conceived naturally—after being told it would never happen.

  • Their third came through adoption, a journey they described as one of the greatest gifts of their lives.

Jenni said she has never looked at their daughter and felt anything other than, “This is my child.”
Every path to parenthood is different. God is in all of them.

For the Woman Running on Empty

If you’re exhausted from waiting, grieving, or trying to hold everything together, here’s the encouragement Jenni shared:

  • Find people who can hold hope with you.

  • Let yourself grieve on heavy days.

  • Stay connected to prayer, even if all you can manage is a whisper.

  • Ask God to steady your heart one day at a time.

You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.
You just have to keep trying to take the next small step.

A Prayer for You

At the end of the episode, Dalton prayed over couples facing infertility and loss. His prayer was simple, honest, and full of truth: God is not distant from your heartbreak. He is with you, leading you, and strengthening what feels fragile.

Sometimes the miracle is the outcome.
Sometimes the miracle is that you’re still standing.
